75Hard Phase 3

Beginning Jan 2, 2023 I’m going to record each day, partly as an accountability tool and partly as a record of the final and by far hardest of all the 75Hard challenges.

Nutrition Rules:

Day 1 - 2/1/23

Act of kindness:

Surprised Pete, Lucy and Emily with delivering takeaway coffees

Random European guy at the Old Ghost Road track, quite awkward but I did it

Summary:

Overall it was a great day, I forgot how much focus it does take to get through all the tasks, how much water 3.75L is and also what an adjustment of going from eating anything and everything to being restricted is. Finish time, 10:30pm approx.

Day 2 - 3/1/23

Act of kindness:

Tidied the house for Pete and Lucy and left some treats for them.

Talked to a stranger:

Friendly guy at the Truman Track who took our photo, 10/10 experience. Good sort.

Summary:

Great day, 2 x amazing walks! (Truman Track and Devils Punchbowl falls. Lots of opportunities to talk to strangers but interestingly most people seem quite closed off and avoid eye contact / interacting with strangers. Finished nice and early, just before 9pm.

Day 3 - 4/1/23

Act of kindness:

Picked up a coffee / breakfast for Emily

Chatted with a lady at the gym

Summary:

Another great day, 2 x walks, one around the city, one beach walk Sumner. 9:30pm finish.

Day 4 - 5/1/23

Act of kindness:

Helped a lady at Kmart lift some heavy items

Talked to a stranger:

2 x different conversations with guys at the gym

Summary:

The second gym chat was better than the first! It was exceptional actually, talked about the $10m challenge / growth etc. Finished 8:30pm approx. Great day.

Day 5 - 6/1/23

Act of kindness:

Gave money to a homeless person

Talked with a new person at the gym.

Summary:

Great day overall, got the podcast on Spotify! First proper workout back after surgery. Universe provided with a conversation at the gym about property.

Day 6 - 7/1/23

Summary:

A good day overall, had the added requirements of 30Flex which will take some adjusting too but overall a good day with an 8pm finish time.

Day 7 - 8/1/23

Summary:

An amazing day, I’m noticing I am feeling the pressure of the act of kindness and the stranger, especially when left until the afternoon so my mission going forward is to tick these tasks off in the morning.

Day 8 - 9/1/23

Picked up rubbish

Talked to the lady at the Uniform Shop as well as a great conversation with someone at the gym, a good reminder of how much you can learn from strangers

Summary:

A really good day, finished the earliest yet at around 5pm. Feeling fatigued though so aiming to take it easy Day 9. Sleeping is going well so will keep going with the 321 strategy.

Day 9 - 10/1/23

An AMAZING Day! So good, perfect weather, got through the tasks for both Phase 3 & 30Flex comfortably. Ran 1km and felt good.

Day 13 - 14/1/23

A great day overall! Feeling a slight amount of fatigue which I’ve noticed on previous challenges, a combination of the physically activity stacking up + other commitments consuming energy. Feeling good but can feel the need to try and recover. A great sleep last night helped.

Day 29 - 30/1/23

Early finish at around 6pm, feeling good but also feeling the fatigue and tiredness from the 29 days.

Summary:

A very strong end to the challenge. Great chat with a stranger. Special moment with Emily.

Phase 3 Summary:

It’s an amazing feeling to tick off the full “Live Hard” year.

The nice thing is that I haven’t got the same usual come down as I have when finishing previous phases.

Truely a life changing year and experience. I whole heartedly recommend this to anyone, in fact I think everyone should DO THIS.

I’ll likely summarise this year in a future blog and or podcast but for now. Do 75Hard or if that seems to much, take a look at 30Flex I designed that as a way to condition yourself to daily habits without jumping straight into the deep end.
