Happy Thursday Friends!

Another busy 8 days. I did catch myself yesterday referring to feeling a bit maxed out before realising it was a choice. More on that below with a quick story.

I love this time of year from a goal setting perspective. Such a good time to think about what you want to tick off next year, what's gone well this year and you'd like to do differently.

Have a great rest of your week and the last few days of November.

What Have I learned:

You're not maxed out, you're growing

I was saying I found myself in the "Busy trap" you know, the I'm too busy to think type state you can get into some times.

Well, what made me stop in my tracks was the decision to go for a run. Spend some time "slowing down in order to speed up" I went on the run, then hit the sauna for a quick 20 minute round.

I got talking to someone in the sauna, about how things are and when I was on the cusp of explaining how maxed out and busy I was. I realised this guy has a team of around 200 and is making time to be in the sauna at mid day. It put things in perspective that if i can't manage my own time, zero staff, I've got a lot of growing to do!

Yes I've got competing priorities and are managing stressors but at the end of the day. If you want to grow if you want to become better I think a key is changing the language you use and that self talk. If you keep telling yourself your busy and maxed out, what do you think will happen. Exactly. That's what you'll become.

The opposite or more practical way to frame this could be:

I've got a bit on, I'm managing my time effectively, I'm getting better at saying no to things that either don't add enough value to cover that time or aren't relevant.

At least that's my version.

This time of year is the perfect time to reflect. There is so much busy talk around at the moment and yes there's a lot of events and competing priorities but just remember. It's all a choice. You can say No and you can be in control.

It's not always easy but the first step is recognising that you can change and there is alternatives.
