Holding up the mirror, The Loft Co Working, Competency, Hiit Squad

Each week I'm going to write about something I've learned or have been working on as well as some highlights

May 9, 2025

Hello Friends,

After probably over sharing last week, i'm keeping it a bit safer today.

Another good week all in all. Loving the new book (Fix this next) (Same Author as Profit First). I think it tackles the problem that a lot of Business Owners face. Which is which problem to tackle or where to focus your time and energy.

Keen to hear any book recommendations in the business, autobiography, mindset space. Got a favourite?

Enjoy the rest of Friday.

Highlights from the last week:

* Notion Development = Good and progress being made

* West Coast trip a success

* Daily videos, almost half way through the challenge of 100 videos

* 200th Episode of the podcast out soon

* Sales and prospecting event next Wednesday with James Wallace and I. A few tickets left, link on the ALT. website

* Running = Good

* Sales and prospecting mode, engaged

* New book: "Fix this next". Thanks Ron. Loving it so far

* Hiit Squad work out = Tough but awesome

* Loft, we're looking for some more good people to work from the loft, message me if you'd like a free trial / to come and check it out

What Have I learned:

Competency

It’s a word that’s been on my mind this week — or more accurately, the lack of it.
I’ve found myself genuinely wondering how some people manage to stay employed in the roles they’re in.

Now, I’m far from perfect. But one thing I’m committed to — in my business and in life — is surrounding myself with A-Players. People who are competent,

accountable, and confident in what they do. And that doesn’t just happen — you’ve got to hire well, train well, and coach with clarity.

Because whether I’m the client or the coach, I’m not looking for more problems. I'm looking for solutions and a willingness to progress while being mindful of time.

I’m looking for people who make the experience better — smoother, sharper, and ideally, more profitable.

Here’s the twis though:

When you’re frustrated with someone else’s lack of competence, it’s often a mirror.
Not always. But sometimes that friction is actually showing you where you need to grow, delegate, or systemize better.

Just something to sit with.
