Marathon, Price vs Cost vs ROI, Mastermind Launch, Daily step PB

April 11, 2025

Hi Friends,

Super grateful for the 2 events last week, the kick off of the Altitude Collective and the lunch event. More info on membership available soon. Message me to join the waitlist.

Excited for the Marathon this Sunday, seems like a few people are doing it so I might see you there. If it's between kilometres 21 - 42 i could be in discomfort.

This week getting things set up Anaru I've been thinking about the concept of cost vs investment. ROI vs expense. I'll elaborate more below

Have a great weekend.

David

Highlights from the last week:

* Podcast with Graeme, exactly 100 episodes between the first one we did + a ride in his Porsche. So good!

* Ran a half marathon, felt pretty good, thanks Tom

* Sudima in Kaikoura did not disappoint

* Learnt more about Emerge, a digital business bank, interesting

* Rambler were awesome hosts last Friday, as were Elements for lunch

* Video a day continues across instagram and LinkedIN

* New PB on average daily steps last week of 21k / day

What Have I learned:

Cost vs Investment vs ROI vs being cheap

Having locked in a solution for payroll next week, it's been interesting chatting with people about it. Often when the price has come up it's been met with wow that's not cheap or some version of that.

Compared to a subscription to iPayroll or something similar it's more dollars yes but this is outsourced solution that I don't have to touch. It's a different comparison to what most people think of.

There's also a strategic advantage to working with this business, it could lead to working together in the future, it could lead to opportunities, the probability of it leading somewhere vs subscribing to a system is higher.

I also like the idea of supporting a local business and a local operator.

There's also no term contract so worse case if it's not working or if it doesn't work i'm not locked in.

I don't know why I thought I'd share this. i think because it seems natural for people to gravitate toward price and not seeing the multidimensional situation beyond.

It could also be that I value my time highly and see tasks that create stress and negative pressure, sapping energy as something to avoid. Aka processing payroll.

Watch this space, it could be awesome experience or it could be a flop. We'll see.
